A 22-year-old Delhi based girl Tina Dabi, who has topped the prestigious civil services examination of 2015, wants to be a role model for girls aspiring to clear the UPSC exams. Tina born and brought up in Delhi, completed her graduation from Lady Shri Ram College and cleared India’s topmost exam in the first attempt. As soon as the results were announced by on UPSC website, Tina’s residence in Delhi was full of her relatives including media personnel. Tina while interacting with media said, “Patience, focus, discipline and family support worked in my favour. I am very happy and feel very ecstatic, can’t express in words”.

For Tina’s mother, her daughter is no less than a hero. “I am speechless, all I can say is that my daughter is my hero,” Tina’s mother said to news agency ANI. Tina’s father who was stunned by her daughter’s achievement said he was surprised and proud. “She is just 22-year-old and she cleared the exams in her first attempt,” her father said. Tina is the second girl in a row to top the UPSC exams. In 2014 Ira Singhal a physically challenged woman from Delhi secured the first position in the Civil Service exams. In total, 1,078 candidates this year cleared the toughest exam of India. The selected candidates have been recommended for appointment of Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS). Out of 1,078 candidates, 499 are in General category, 314 belonging to Other Backward Class, 176 from Scheduled Caste and 89 from Scheduled Tribe, have been recommended for various post.
